Questions, answered.

What is Seabook?

Seabook is a marine life identification and dive log app for iOS and Android. Think Pokémon Go for the ocean: you identify fish and other sea creatures from a photo, log your dives, and collect every species you encounter in a personal collection.

How does Seabook identify fish and marine life?

Take a photo, or pick one from your gallery, and Seabook's AI-powered photo recognition names the species. It recognizes more than 10,000 marine species.

Is Seabook a dive log app?

Yes. Seabook has a built-in dive log where you record location, depth, temperature, conditions, notes, photos and the species you saw on each dive.

Can snorkelers use Seabook, or is it only for scuba divers?

Seabook is for everyone who loves the ocean: scuba divers, freedivers, snorkelers, underwater photographers and beachgoers. Any photo of marine life can be identified and added to your collection.

Why is it called Oceandex?

Because Seabook turns your sightings into a personal index of ocean species: a dex you fill one dive at a time, with achievements and rare finds along the way.

Is Seabook free?

Seabook is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. An optional subscription unlocks additional features.

Does Seabook help ocean conservation?

Seabook lets you share your sightings and contribute them to marine research, joining divers who log species from the Red Sea, Indonesia, the Philippines, the Caribbean and beyond.
